This series of usability tests on moxiskates.com focuses on assessing whether users are able to successfully access helpful resources offered by the site, book a virtual consultation, and register for upcoming events. The aim is to identify any obstacles that users may face and better understand user satisfaction and the potential issues identified by the previously completed heuristic evaluation and cognitive walkthrough. The tests were completed within a 3-week window between July 26, 2023 and August 8, 2023. All tests were conducted remotely over Zoom with a total of five participants, six including the initial pilot test.
The results of our usability test suggested that on average, users could navigate relatively quickly through the MoxiSkates website. However, for the outlined major tasks, the number of errors for task completion varied widely. Most users could easily complete Task 1: Making a purchase using the Moxi Skates Roller Skate Buying Guide with little to no errors. However, most users had the most difficulty with Task 3: Booking a virtual skate consultation. Users completed Tasks 2: Register to attend the RollerCon event and Task 4: Access the Skate Maintenance Guide with roughly 1 to 2 errors.
For each task, users universally felt confident in their ability to complete the task. However, users generally perceived that ease of use for each task could be improved. Universally, users commented on the aesthetic appearance of MoxiSkates.com, and enjoyed the graphics included on the user interface. However, many users noted that there was room for improvement in overall usability on the website, especially for those who are new to roller skating and looking to get started with the hobby. Users had the most challenges with Task 3: Booking a virtual skate shop consultation and generally agreed that better language could be included to guide new users to this feature.
